"Geography is the subject which holds the key to our future" - Michael Palin

Geography is a massively diverse subject, and a huge number of topics are ‘Geography’.

The study of geography stimulates students interest in, and sense of wonder about, places and helps make sense of a complex and ever changing world. Its relevance is all around us. Where we come from, what we do, what we eat, what our environment looks like, how we move about and how we shape our future are all Geography!

It helps explains how places and landscapes are formed, how people and environment interact, and how a diverse range of economies and societies are inter-connected.

Geography encourages questioning, investigation and critical thinking about issues affecting the world and people’s lives, for present and future.

It is a subject that enables students to become global citizens by exploring their own place in the world, there values and responsibilities to other people, to the environment and to the sustainability of the planet.

The subject compliments skills in many other subjects, such as developing analytical skills of the Science and the descriptive and interpretative skills of the English and other Humanities. All these skills are valued by employers.

In an age of global business it is vital to understand the world, so you can be part of it and take advantage of it!
