Boxing, Snowboarding, Horse Riding, Water Polo, Golf, Karate… these are just a few of the sports and activities that can contribute to you gaining a qualification in Physical Education, but you can of course offer the more traditional sports such as Football, Rugby, Netball, Swimming, Rounders, Cricket and Athletics that you will study in lessons.  Did you know you can now be assessed in the role of leader or official in your chosen sport?  If your interest is in refereeing or umpiring or developing your talents as a coach then GCSE PE now allows you to submit these components for assessment and provides you will the opportunity to gain national governing body qualifications as a table tennis official, netball umpire as well as a junior football organiser.

GCSE PE is predominantly a practical subject, but there is an increasing emphasis on your theoretical understanding of what makes a healthy and active lifestyle.  You will study such areas as Methods of Training, Principles of Training, Anatomy, Influences on participation, Muscular System, Skeletal System, Cardiovascular system and personal health and well-being.  This element of the course helps you gain a far greater insight into the human body and how it works as well as how enable you to gain an insight into injuries and treatments for these.

GCSE PE has evolved enormously in the last few years and this could be your gateway to the ever increasing range of sport related courses at university and jobs related to the Sport and Physical Activity Industry.  Listed below are just some possibilities of jobs that you could look to do with this qualification.
